Drunk Driving Wrecks
Americans take 233 car billion trips in cars each year. Of those, about one out of every two thousand trips are taken by those who are driving under the influence of alcohol. Yet, almost one out of every three traffic deaths involve drunk driving.
So a proportionally tiny amount of bad behavior is one of the major causes of death and injury on our roadways.
Every 53 minutes on average, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash (9,878 people in total in 2011). Every 90 seconds, someone is injured because of this entirely preventable crime.
Texas leads the nation in drunk driving deaths with 1,213 people fatalities in 2011. In addition, in 2011, Texas had 25671 alcohol related crashes causing 16882 injuries.
About one-third of the drunk driving problem – arrests, crashes, deaths, and injuries – comes from repeat offenders. At any given point we potentially share the roads with 2 million people with three or more drunk driving offenses. Taking away their licenses isn’t enough; 50-75% of them drive anyway. This is why we need to require ignition interlocks for all drunk driving offenders – we can stop these offenders before they repeat their crimes.
Two-thirds of the drunk driving problem comes from people who, before they kill or injure themselves or others, have yet to be arrested. That’s why we need to support law enforcement to help deter drunk drivers through proven solutions like sobriety checkpoints. It’s also why we support research into technology that will eliminate drunk driving.
We need your help to eliminate this threat – please join us in the fight against drunk driving.Experienced Texas Drunk Driving Accident Attorney

It is illegal to drink under the influence or drugs or alcohol. In Texas, the legal limit for an adult’s blood alcohol content is .08% and for a minor is 0%. Depending on the age, weight, height, and sex of the driver, this limit can be reached in as little as two or three drinks. Texas has far more drunk driving accidents than any other state in the nation. About 45 percent of all people killed in traffic accidents in Texas are injured or killed in drunk driving accidents. This horrendous problem is especially rampant in our Dallas Fort Worth area. Last year 121 people were killed and 1,261 others were seriously injured by DWI or DUI drivers in Tarrant and Dallas Counties.
Drunk driving crashes are often the most serious auto accidents. Rarely is a drunk driving accident a slight rear-end collision caused by a driver’s mere failure to brake in time. Instead, drunk driving accidents usually are head-on and side-impact collisions at high rates of speed.
The unfortunate truth is that, despite the dangers of drunk driving and the seriousness of the consequences, many drivers choose to disregard the law—and the safety of others—and get behind the wheel after they have been drinking. Those injured by drunk drivers, or families of those who have been killed by a drunk driver have the right under the law to be compensated.Never Accept a Drunk Driving Accident Settlement Without Talking to a Good Lawyer
If you or a loved one has been injured in a drunk driving accident, don’t accept a settlement offer unless you first speak to an experienced Fort Worth personal injury attorney. Do not let an insurance company convince you that your case is only worth the low-ball offer they are hoping that you will accept.
Juries are not sympathetic to drunk or stoned drivers in court. They will probably award substantial damages which may include punitive damages against the defendant. Insurance companies know they will lose in court, and they know that with an aggressive lawyer on your side, they will be forced to pay you a lot of money. Insurance companies often contact victims quickly after a drunk driving accident, and offer them an insultingly low amount of money, often less than 10% of the value they estimate the case to be worth. They may even come to your house and hand you a check on the spot in exchange for your signature on a form that releases their driver and their company from ever paying you anything else. But these tiny offers certainly will not reimburse you for your doctor and therapy bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering in the future that you are entitled to receive.
Further, an experienced personal injury lawyer knows to thoroughly and quickly investigate who supplied the drunk or stoned driver with the alcohol or drugs. The restaurant, bar, liquor store, or others may also be liable for damages in a court of law.
Speak to a knowledgeable drunk driving accident attorney and find out what your case is really worth. Remember, the law only gives accident victims one chance to settle, so make sure it counts.
