Supreme Court Upholds Obamacare

In a surprising 5-4 decision led by conservative Chief Justice John Roberts, a staunch Republican appointed by President George W. Bush, the Supreme Court today ruled to uphold most of the controversial provisions of the landmark federal health care law, including the individual mandate requiring all Americans to purchase health insurance.

The decision is extemely complicated and is well beyond the scope of this blog. And this debate is obviously far from over. The results of the election this November will determine how the new law is implemented — if it isn’t gutted by Congress.

But as it stands now, the law has the potential to benefit millions of people who will presumably be able to afford health insurance to get the medical care they need — including many of my clients.

One of the many services we provide to our clients is negotiating with hospitals and doctors to reduce medical bills –often in the hundreds of thousands of dollars — so that they will receive more money in their pockets. This is especially true when my clients do not have health insurance, or have minimal coverage, or have high deductibles they have not met yet, or have been excluded for having preexisting conditions, or are not working.

Just this week we were able to reduce a woman’s hospital bill from $45,000.00 to $10,000.00, for example.

If you have been injured in an automobile or truck collision and need help with your case, please call me. I can help get you the money you deserve.
