Jason Kidd: Our Latest Celebrity DWI

Jason Kidd, who played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2008-2012 and just bolted to the New York Knicks last week, crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole which left live wires dangling early Sunday morning. He was rushed to the NYC area hospital with minor injuries, arrested, and released without bail.

OK, no flashy NBA player was involved, but I settled a DWI case on Friday for $100,000, the drunk driver’s entire limits, and have already collected PIP benefits, filed for Underinsured Motorist benefits, slashed a hospital bill, voided an improper emergency care lien, filed bills on my client’s health insurance policy, and am pursuing a possible failure to deploy airbag case.

DWI accidents anger me. We have to figure out a way to keep drunks from drinking and driving — and crashing into innocent motorists.

Kidd knew better than to get blitzed at a charity event and at a night club (see photo) in the ritzy Hamptons, then drive home to his $6 million summer house when he was intoxicated — especially being such a high profile athlete.

I have tried and/or settled many collision cases caused by drunk drivers in the Dallas Fort Worth area over the last 32 years. And I recovered a substantial sum of money for a man hit by one of our pro athletes, a Dallas Cowboy player, who was also driving an Escalade who claimed that the wreck was caused by an ice patch.

I hate drunk drivers and will do everything in my power to go after them and their insurance companies to get you the money you deserve.
