Latest DWI Crashes on DFW Highways: These Have To Stop

Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in the Deadly Weekend Collision

In a deadly crash during the early morning hours on Sunday, a van flipped on Airport Freeway and caught fire. The 23 year-old Dallas man who was driving the van was arrested at the scene and charged with intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and driving while intoxicated.

The fatal crash occurred at 4.45 a.m. Vivence Bugilimfura drove into an impact barrier where State Highway 121 intersects Airport Freeway in Bedford. The van overturned and burst into flames. Everyone in the vehicle, including the driver, was ejected and sustained serious injuries. 21-year-old Lynker Kabera died at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Two passengers had to be airlifted. All passengers were treated at a local hospital.

Vivence Bugilimfura remains incarcerated on a $250,000 bond.

Drunk Dallas Teen Crashes Car Just Days Before Fatal DWI Accident

Sunday morning’s fatal DWI accident follows on the heels of another serious drunk driving crash in Dallas
on Thursday evening. Fortunately, nobody was killed in Thursday’s
accident. However, the driver and two adults and a child in another car
were injured in the accident.

The crash occurred on South Marlborough Avenue in north Oak Cliff at about 8.30 p.m. The 17 year-old driver side-swiped the
other car carrying two adults and two children, ages four and seven. The drunk teen then swerved into a residential yard. The impact spewed
debris across the lawn and a battery slammed into the front door of the
home. Also, more than one dozen beer cans rolled from the car into the
resident’s yard. An 18 year-old woman was also a passenger in the drunk
teen’s car. The teen faces DWI charges. Because he is a juvenile, his name has not been released.

Let’s End Drunk Driving

Both of these accidents were clearly preventable. These drivers — and thousands just like them — decided to
get behind the wheel even though they were intoxicated. Now one woman
is dead and numerous people are injured because of the reprehensible actions of
these drivers. For the families of these victims, the drunk drivers have unleashed devastating heartaches and tragedy in their lives. Yet, DWI crashes remain so common that these two accidents only gathered hort articles in the local papers.
