Crashes Cost Us $300 Billion A Year!

Attention politicians: why not lower our taxes and reduce our deficit by trying to reduce the astronomical cost of motor vehicle crashes?

According to figures from the Texas Transportation Institute, in 2010 the national cost was a whopping $299.5 billion. And this does not begin to mention the 32,885 lives lost or 1,546,000 of people injured. The annual cost per person in the U.S. was $1,522.00.

Yet people always seem to focus on how slow traffic moves. The study pointed out that the cost of traffic congestion was $97.7 billion.

And as the Dallas/Fort Worth area continues to grow exponentially, the study found that as the size of a city increased, the crash expenses did as well.
