It was a privilege to be the Presenting Sponsor of this fun event and meeting Mayor Betsy Price was one of many highlights. She’s in great shape and ran the 5K along with 800+ others including over 500 children who were starting their training for the Cowtown’s Children’s 5K in February — the largest one in the country.
Friday afternoon I went to my adopted school, Rufino Mendoza, to run with “my children” and help them get ready.
Our team did great, placing second in the FWISD for the biggest team. And Eric, who is only 10 years old, won the 17/under race with a sizzling time of 24 minutes. I’m going to buy his race photo, have it framed, and present it to him at a school assembly, hopefully with his parents in attendance.
I support the CALF program and have served on its Council because it helps
children develop healthy lifestyles. I love the looks on their faces when they try on the New Balance running shoesand cross the finish lines at races we pay for. Helping our children be active, healthy, and successful is one of the best causes I’ve found.
