Essay Contest Rules
Eligibility
The contest is open to students who will be enrolled at a college or university full-time during the fall of 2010.
Entering the Contest
To enter, please click the link at the bottom of this page or at the bottom of the main contest page and fill out the application form and essay box. Essay responses are limited to 1,000 words.
Ownership of Entries
All entries submitted to the Law Offices of William K. Berenson in connection with this contest, along with all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights associated therewith, become the property of Law Offices of William K. Berenson upon submission. Entry materials will not be returned to any entrant. By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that if you enter the scholarship contest, Law Offices of William K. Berenson will own all rights to use, modify, reproduce, publish, perform, display, distribute and promote the application in perpetuity without compensation beyond the prize money awarded to the winner to you or any other person.
Selection of Winners
A panel of judges representing the Law Offices of William K. Berenson will choose the winner. The decision of the judges will be final. The scholarship recipient will be notified by telephone no later than July 30, 2010. Winners will be posted on the Law Offices of William K. Berenson website. Entries will be disqualified if they contain vulgar or inappropriate content; are not turned in with all the required information; or use copyrighted materials.
Prizes
One winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. Four additional winners will each receive a $500 scholarship to the college of their choice. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of entries received. The scholarship awards will be paid directly to the school the winners will be attending in the fall of 2010.
Use of Name, Likeness, Etc.
As a condition of receiving any prize, the winner as well as their parents or legal guardians will be required to consent to the use of their name, age, area of residence and school name. You must also consent to using your likeness (as in a photograph or on television) and prize information, without limitations, for promotional purposes without further payment.
Release
By entering the contest, you and your parents or legal guardians release and agree to hold harmless Law Offices of William K. Berenson, and each of their partners or employees, from any liability whatsoever in connection with entering the contest, accepting any prize, or anything that may arise related to the contest. The Law Offices of William K. Berenson reserves the right to use the concepts from entries submitted in the competition. The winning entrant will be required to sign releases and waivers of liability.
